Web Marketing

Over 60% of people who are looking for your product or service use Search Engines as their starting point. This means you must do everything you can to promote your web site and get listed in the Search Engines.

Before your site is live on the Internet, we'll work with you to come up with the best keywords to put into the hidden META tags on your web pages. Your web site visitors can't see these words but the search engines use them to properly categorize your site. The key here is to not overdo it - most search engines penalize those who repeat words in the META tags too many times.

Search Engine Registrations:
A big part of our internet marketing strategy involves registering your site with the major search engines. We focus on the top 12, including but not limited to Yahoo.com, Yahoo.ca (Canadian), AltaVista, DirectHit, Excite, Google, Hotbot, Infoseek, Lycos, Magellan, MSN, Northern Light, Open Directory, Webcrawler and About.com.

Search engine placement is a tricky business - what works with one search engine may disqualify you from another - so we occasionally make adjustments to your page code from time to time. It is a great advantage to make the page design and marketing work hand in hand.

We begin marketing your site when the design is complete. Some search engines will list sites within a couple of weeks, and others take up to 12 weeks or more. This does not mean that we are not submitting and re-submitting your site to them. Some search engines simply take that long (Yahoo, in particular) to list a site. Some directories such as Yahoo! hand-pick the sites that they list. Although we cannot make guarantees, we have a good track record with Yahoo even though it takes quite a bit of persistence on our part.

Here are a few more things you can do to improve traffic to your site:

Trading Links with Other Sites:
Exchanging links with other sites is a very popular way to increase traffic to your site. Contact sites you'd like to exchange links with.

Print advertising, brochures, etc.:
Put your web site address on everything you can - brochures, advertising, business cards, letterhead, invoices, statements, etc. This way your customers know to go to your web site for the latest information and are constantly reminded of your presence on the web.

Associations and Clubs:
Many of our clients belong to regional associations that list member web site addresses in printed directories as well as link to their members' web sites from the association's web site. We urge you to take advantage of these links if you belong to a professional association.

Newsletters:
Ask visitors to your web site if they would like to sign up for a free newsletter about your particular area of expertise. (Never send them unsolicited e-mail, even if you think they'll love it. That's bad netiquette.) There's great value in providing knowledge - something your web site visitors will always come back for. It's a terrific way to stay in touch with your customers and potential customers.
